Final Poinsettia Sales!

11/05/19

Dear students, parents, guardians, and staff,

The MHS Choir Program began selling poinsettias in October for the holidays! Sales will conclude TOMORROW, November 6th. Ordered plants will be delivered to our school on December 11 and can be picked up in the choir room (Aud-1) or delivered to you by the student you ordered from. Each flower is $12, or $65.50 for a case of six flowers. As many of you know, our program depends on fundraisers like this one in order to cover costs of formal attire, classroom supplies, festival and competition registration and transportation, workshops and clinics, and so much more. Your support is very much appreciated as we continue to grow our program and offer more opportunities for our students to experience academic choral music.

If you are not interested in a poinsettia this year, donations are always appreciated. We have more fundraisers in the making for this year (restaurant nights, karaoke events..) and concerts (Holiday 12/6, Spring 3/13, Pops 5/29) if these are your more preferred methods to support our program.

As always, thank you so much for your support in our program. It was great to see so many of you at last week's concert!

Best,

Jessica Pettygrove

Chromebooks & Google Classroom

10/20/19

Dear parents and guardians,

Our district and our school are trying their best to incorporate the use of technology on a greater scale to provide all students with access to learning, whether they are at school or at home. The first big step towards this initiative has been to provide the students with Chromebooks.

I am emailing because I am aware and concerned that not all students have Chromebooks in their possession yet. If this is because of any hesitation you are having as their parents and guardians, please contact me and let me know. Even in our choir classroom, I am trying to focus more on technology, printing less paper, and using the Chromebooks to our advantage.

In that same vain, some students have not yet signed on to our Google Classroom. Whether they do this on a phone or a Chromebook, the students need to be a part of their class to see and turn in upcoming assignments. They are able to access Google Classroom on their phones, however, it is not nearly as user-friendly as their Chromebooks are. Some students, though, have not even signed on with our class code yet. The class codes are posted on my SchoolLoop website.

2 Period Varsity Men: wgbab9

3 Period Golden Keys: 3efy3gc

4 Period Concert Choir: 0gyop33

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this shift towards better use of technology. Like any teacher, I want your students to have the best access to our content, material, and practice resources as possible. The Chromebooks are designed to help with this, not only for my class, but for all of their classes.

Sincerely,

Holiday Poinsettia Fundraiser

10/09/19

Dear students, parents, guardians, and staff,

The MHS Choir Program began selling poinsettias today for the holidays!

Sales will run from today until November 6th. Ordered plants will be delivered to our school on December 11 and can be picked up in the choir room (Aud-1) or delivered to you by the student you ordered from. Each flower is $12, or $65.50 for a case of six flowers. PLEASE encourage your students to ask you for your support/to purchase from them in the most professional, business-like way possible. They know how they should ask you correctly, so please keep them accountable before you buy! :) Please also let me know if you do not have choir students in your classes but would like to purchase a poinsettia. I can send a student over to you.

Best,

Fall Fest Concert, October 4, 5:30pm

10/01/19

Dear students, parents/guardians, and staff,

This email is to remind you that first choir concert of the year is in two days, THIS Friday, October 4, at 5:30pm in the Courtyard!

The students have worked very hard to put this concert together with songs that have helped them develop the skills they need both as soloists and as an entire ensemble. We hope that you will come out to support our program on Friday at 5:30pm! There is no admission fee, although donations are appreciated and baked goods/dinner/drinks will be served throughout the concert.

Teachers: if you have choir students in your classes, please send me an email if they announce our concert in class (they can receive extra credit!).

Parents/guardians: the students have a graded dress/tech rehearsal for our concert tomorrow, Thursday, from 3-5pm. Make up assignments are available for illness or family emergency. The students' call time before the concert is 4:30pm on Friday, dressed in their new choir shirts and blue/black jeans (no holes!).

In addition to our concert this week, we will be starting a Holiday Poinsettia fundraiser soon after. Please keep an eye out for students with order forms so that you can contribute towards the funds needed for music, class materials, travel, festivals, formal attire, workshops, competitions, and so much more!

Thank you so much and I look forward to seeing you all at Friday's concert.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Pettygrove
