Welcome to the Montebello High School AVID webpage

We are very proud of our AVID system here at Montebello High School.  For the 2019-2020 school year, we have been fortunate to increase to twelve dedicated AVID classes thanks to the district and MHS administration.  We strive to have our students well-rounded and prepared to continue their education at the post-secondary level and effectively contribute in a global society.

Since the inception of our system in 1999, we have sent students to some of the most reputable schools in the University of California, California State University, and Private College systems throughout the nation.  In the past twelve years, 99.6% of the students who completed the MHS AVID program has been accepted to a four-year university and we are very proud of this statistic.  Some of these students chose not to attend the school due to a financial or a personal reason at that time, but they have continued their education at the Junior College level and were able to transfer to a four-year university of their choice.

We would like to express our deepest thanks to Ms. Kimberly Lazaro for watching over all of the AVID programs throughout the district.  Ms. Lazaro has been very helpful and her passion in our systems provide the successes that we continue to have.

We would like to thank Dr. Anthony Martinez (Superintendent), Ms. Kimberly Lazaro (Montebello Unified School District, District Office),  Ms. Tina Marie Lozano (MHS Student Activities Director), counselors, tutors, Site Team Members, and especially our hard working Elective teachers,  for their continued support of the success of our system.
