Oil Spill Wins Award

Congratulations to Mr. James Ramirez and the Oil Spill Staff.

Montebello High School's literary arts magazine, Oil Spill, has received a second place award from the American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA) and a superior rating from National Counsel of Teachers of English (NCTE) Recognizing Excellence in Arts and Literary Magazine (REALM) for the 2017-2018 submission!

Oil Spill earned a 3rd place award from ASPA and an excellent rating from REALM in 2016 2017.

Oil Spill is run by students in the CATS pathway.  The Staff meets Tuesdays in room E-9.  They accept all types of art work, from all students on campus, including but not limited to digital art, paintings, sketches, photography, poems, short stories, plays, interviews, etc...  All work is digitally captured and promptly returned to the originator.

ELAC Dual Enrollment

free college classes

Several ELAC classes will be offered during spring semester, pending sufficient enrollment**. You may sign up in A-10 beginning Monday, December 10th.  ELAC Dual Enrollment classes are offered tuition free and textbooks will be provided at no cost. College credit will be earned (if class is passed with a C or better). Classes will begin the week of February 11th.

  • Chicano Studies      Mondays 3:10-6:30pm
  • General Engineering      Wednesdays 3:10-6:30pm
  • Intro to Robotics      Tuesdays 3:10-6:30pm
  • Intro to Arduin (Programming)      Thursdays 3:10-6:30pm
  • Administration of Justice      Thursdays 3:10-6:30pm
  • American Sign Language II (for those who completed ASL I - meets 2 year language requirement for a-g)      Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:10-6:30pm
  • Communications 101 (Public Speaking)   Mondays 3:10-6:30pm (9th grade MECP students only)

Students who successfully complete both Intro to Robotics and Intro to Arduin will earn a programming certificate.

 **Classes must have a minimum of 30 students in order to be held during spring semester.
